🎈YOU DID IT AGAIN, LIVE AT LEEDS! We had an absolute blast yesterday. 💥
Thanks to all for the kind words below...
"Leeds’ own homegrown band Marsicans made their city proud as they performed a coveted slot at the O2 Academy for this year’s festival. With a debut album still on the horizon, the indie-pop quartet performed their bright tunes including ‘Suburbs,’ ‘Pop Ups (Sunny At The Weekend),’ and ‘Too Good,’ causing a mosh pit every corner of the packed 2,300 capacity venue."
"Marsicans set the venue alight during their set...it was impossible not to be swept up by the band’s more insurgent new material, tracks that will surely define them as one of the nation’s most treasured new indie bands in the coming months."
🎈WHAT A BLAST we had on the road with the BBC/Good Karma Club's Abbie McCarthy, Childcare, Lucia and a shit-ton of ace opening acts. Everything about these shows exceeded our expectations, including the nightly Wispa Gold count - thank you for fattening us up for Summer 2019! (Birmingham, you won with 67 btw.) 🍫
As always, special shout-out to all the reviewers and photographers who turned out to snap and write up. Some lovely work from you below...
OFF THE PLANE straight to the beach: Toronto to Brighton is the furthest distance we've travelled between gigs so far but our sunny three days at the Great Escape made it worthwhile. Thanks to those who took time to come down and write about us. 🎈
One of a few indie bands with a good chance of breaking into the mainstream are Marsicans...reminiscent of the Maccabees, with just the right kind of songs and style to remember the next time around.
AFTER 5 HOURS trapped in M62 gridlock on our way to Liverpool Sound City 2018, we made our set at the Camp & Furnace stage by the skin of our teeth. Thanks to all who came down and helped us work off our stress! Thanks too to those who wrote the kind words below...🎈
MARSICANS just arrived, jumped out the van and ploughed through a brisk twenty minutes of heartwarming pop.
WE HAD such a ball playing for JAWS' fans on this tour. Thanks to all who came, moshed and conquered. Some kind words about the shows below... 🎈
Liverpool, Magnet 24.11.17
"The group’s feelgood vibes were easily enough to get anyone smiling. Each song saw the band take on a different style whilst also keeping it completely their own. Marsicans continue to pull it out of the bag."
"Maintaining the energy of the evening, the ever-colourful Marsicans remain the most cheerful band I’ve come across on a stage, filling the room with both their smiles and sound."
BIG THANKS to Oli Del Amo of Spanish music blog +stage for writing a bi-lingual review of our set at last week's Good Karma Club at the Islington. Thanks too to BBC Introducing's Abbie McCarthy for inviting us down and to everyone who packed the place and threw some sort of shape. 🎈
Marsicans conquered the London scene with a fantastic set that dragged everyone to the dance floor.
A GIG ON A BALCONY overlooking a vintage clothes shop was more fun than we could have hoped for! Thanks to all who packed into Brighton's Beyond Retro to see our set, to the Scruff Of The Neck stage crew for somehow making it all work and to James West of Hidden Herd for having some nice things to say about it all. 🎈
"Looking down on the ram-packed warehouse from upstairs above the till, the Leeds gang of four unveil their giddy guitar pop anthems with a torrent of energy, pinging through a scintillating setlist."
A CHOICE SELECTION of reviews of last weekend's Live At Leeds performance - one of our favourite hometown shows to date and it even came with one of our favourite ever live shots (above), courtesy of Olivia Williams... 🎈
Marsicans, on the much bigger stage at Stylus, have built their reputation as a hardworking indie band from the ground up. Their synergy is palpable as they egg each other on, the crowd eagerly sing back at them.
