Summer is over and Autumn has arrived (or so I'm told by Paul The Weather Man from popular BBC drama 'The News'). Soon the leaves will begin to fall from the trees and I will once again be able to wear all of my clothes instead of just some of them. Honestly, I've got a really nice coat that I haven't worn in ages, I could not be more excited to throw that bad boy over my feminine shoulders and strut. Right now though, I suppose I'd better tell you all about what we've been up to over the last month...
Firstly, we announced LOADS of shows in the UK and we are buzzing to get back out on the road. Piling into Pat, our beloved van, and traversing this country's many motorways is what we live for. We can't wait to see you all and have a party. Oli's even bought a new amp for the occasion! I say new, it's an old Roland Jazz/Chorus (for all you guitar nerds) and it's heavier than a baby elephant.
Secondly, you may have seen that we are releasing The Absence EP very, very soon. It's coming out on 12 inch, white vinyl and it looks so fucking cool. It arrived at chez Cale in about a hundred cardboard boxes and now Cale has to sleep in the garage. On a more serious note, our amazingly talented friend Olivia Hodder designed the glorious EP artwork, and seeing her work on the sleeve is really special. I guess that's part of the magic with vinyl. We are really proud of this release, and we can't wait to unleash it into the wild.
Speaking of which, our bezzie mate Huw Stephens gave the wild a sneak preview of what's to come when he exclusively premiered the EP's lead track Absence on his Radio One show last week. I waited up to hear it like a kid at Christmas trying to get a glimpse of Santa. Nice one Huw/Santa. In that very same week, another EP track, Far Away (Saudade), was added to Spotify's New Music Friday playlist, snug as a bug in and amongst some of our favourite artists. We were on a playlist with Bon Iver - man, how cool is that? I suppose that brings me to the end of this month's on-goings. It's been a month of planning, packing and perfecting, and hopefully those three P's will pay off on tour and throughout the release. A storm's a'coming...
In other news, Cale's started to tie his hair up like The Last Samurai, James still can't speak Japanese, Oliver may or may not be getting his ear pierced and I have a green neck from all the cheap necklaces I wear.
Until next time, stay cool.
