This month's instalment of the NY Times bestseller Marsicans Band Blog comes from me, James. As I look out of my window to see my new Ultra Soft Pyjama Bottoms (USPBs) flying in the wind, I can't help but reminisce on what has been the best year of my life. *Queue the montage clips and power ballads*.
BUT before I get all emotional on you, I'll fill you in on our December ongoings.
We started the month with our final SCHOOL NIGHT of 2016. We invited down our friends in Cassia and Vynce, who played mega sets to a packed out Oporto before the Virgin Mary, Jesus, Santa and an Elf (A.K.A. us) took to the stage for what was an incredibly fun gig. I never thought we'd end our set with a cover of The Darkness' Christmas Time (Don't let the bells end) but I'm really glad we did. I'm going to take this moment to say a massive thanks to everyone at Oporto, Nick of Dead Young Records and Jonny of PEELtheAPPLE for putting up with our DJ'ing and making School Night an absolute hoot.
January is looking particularly exciting for us. If you happened to miss it, we've just announced a tour of the Netherlands, which after our brief stint over there in the summer, we can't wait for. Add to this a show in Paris and a UK tour supporting our effervescent, US favourites Hippo Campus and you have one very fun month.
Apart from all of that, we spent our time holed up in the studio making some new music. I can't go too much into this right now, but we're very excited with what we've come out with and can't wait for you, our friends, to hear it.
My USPBs are still flying high in the wind, just as my memories of 2016 are flying round my mind. From Glastonbury to Brudenell Social Club to the arrival of our beloved van Pat, 2016 has been wonderful. Yeah there has been some absolute shit this year as well, but we've still got each other right?
Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, it means the world to us. Here's hoping we can make your 2017 as good as you made our 2016.
In other news: Oli disgusted us all by showing us how much money he spends on sweets, Cale rocked a new pair of purple trousers, Rob met a Santa band in the Manchester Christmas market, and I just took my USPBs off of the washing line.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
