Thanks for the T, Get Inuit! đź’•

To the untrained eye, April may have looked like a quiet month in the world of Marsicans but, in the words of the current World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen, "Marsicans have had a really busy month". Boy is he right!

After the highs of our Friends headline tour, which took us around this fine island we call home, we hibernated away into our rehearsal room in the search of new music. Despite our love for playing live, we had a great few weeks arguing over what new chords we could use to further our quest for musical synergy. However, as the circle of life dictates, we were soon ready to play live again.

In preparation for our show at Live at Leeds, we headed over to York for a show at City Screen, a cool underground venue on the riverfront. My new guitar (Fender Jaguar, name pending) got its first outing and had a great time. I'll take a second here to say a quick thanks to Simon Pattinson for putting us on, as well as Serotones and Faux Pas who were all very nice people, so nice in fact I'd invite them round for risotto.

After dusting off the cobwebs so to speak, we arrived at Leeds University Stylus for our slot at this year's Live at Leeds. We have so many memories of this festival I don't know where to start. When we were younger we came to the festival and saw our favourite bands, so it's always a special occasion when we get to play it ourselves. The prospect of playing an amazing venue like Stylus as well only added to our excitement. I ironed my Live at Leeds pants in preparation for what was to be one of the most memorable gigs we've had the opportunity to play. After looking at the schedule and seeing who we clashed with, we expected around 10 people sparsely nodding along to our set (which would still have been glorious). For us to come on stage to a fully packed Stylus was a real moment, and one I don't think I'll forget for a long time. Massive thanks to anyone who came to see us that day, and also to the guys at Futuresound and Live at Leeds for having us on. Much lurvvvvv.

Now I find myself writing this, about to embark on our largest tour to date. We're supporting the superb Natives on their UK tour and we'll be playing from Plymouth to Aberdeen and everywhere in between. We have a few extra dates thrown in like the CloseUp Festival in London where we get to play with cool people such as Ekkah, Kyko, Model Aeroplanes and Jerry Williams. It's going to be so much fun I've ironed and packed two suitcases worth of 'have fun on tour' pants, so as you can tell, it's going to be fun.

Anyway, if you're still with me, that's about it for this month. Hopefully we'll get to see you somewhere on da road.

In other news... Oli dyed his hair white, Cale bought a tasty new cymbal, Rob enjoyed his first professional back massage and I bought myself a fierce yellow suit jacket.

Lots of love,

James X
